The short version
- StudyCompass is free and is an early preview. Features may change.
- It gives guidance, not guarantees. Results are estimates that can be wrong. Only universities decide on admission.
- You make your own decisions. Always check requirements and deadlines with the university and your IB coordinator.
- Be fair. Don't misuse the service or try to break it.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
StudyCompass is operated by Maksym Onyshchenko. You can reach us at contact.studycompass@protonmail.com.
These terms apply whenever you use the StudyCompass website and its features. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data. By using StudyCompass you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
2. Who can use StudyCompass
StudyCompass is made for secondary-school students planning university applications, especially International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma students.
If you are under 18, or under the age of legal majority where you live, please use StudyCompass with the knowledge of a parent or guardian, and read these terms together if you are under 16. Parents, guardians and school counsellors are welcome to use it alongside a student.
3. The service
StudyCompass is free to use. It is an early preview: some features are still being built, and we may change, pause or stop features at any time. We will try to give notice of significant changes. We don't promise that the service will always be available or free of errors.
Your survey answers are stored in your own browser. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, they will be gone unless you downloaded a copy. Please keep a copy of anything important.
4. AI and accuracy disclaimer
5. Independence
StudyCompass is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the International Baccalaureate Organization or any university, school or application system, unless we say so explicitly. "International Baccalaureate" and "IB" are trademarks of the International Baccalaureate Organization. Names of institutions are used only to describe them.
6. Using StudyCompass fairly
When you use StudyCompass, please:
- give answers that are as accurate as you can, since results depend on them;
- use it for your own planning and not for anything unlawful;
- not try to break, overload, scrape or bypass the security of the website or its database;
- not copy or resell our content or data at scale without our written permission;
- not upload or type content that is illegal, hateful, or someone else's personal data.
We may limit or block access if someone seriously breaks these rules, in proportion to what happened.
7. Content and intellectual property
The StudyCompass website, design, text, software and compiled data belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for your personal, non-commercial planning. Facts we report from universities and other sources remain theirs, and we link to the source where we can.
Your answers are yours. We do not claim any rights over them.
8. Liability
StudyCompass is a free planning tool. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- decisions you make, or losses you suffer, because you relied on estimates, recommendations or other content from StudyCompass, including AI-generated content (see section 4);
- missed deadlines, rejected applications, fees, or costs of tests and travel;
- loss of answers stored in your browser;
- the content of external websites we link to.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability where the law does not allow it, including liability for intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, for breaches of data protection law, or under mandatory consumer protection law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features. We will publish the new version here with a new date and, for important changes, show a clear notice on the website before they apply. If you keep using StudyCompass after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using it and delete your answers at any time.
10. Applicable law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Poland. If you are a consumer living in another country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live (Art. 6 Rome I Regulation), and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country.
If something goes wrong, please contact us first at contact.studycompass@protonmail.com. We will try to solve it quickly and fairly.
If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest stays in force.
