Our mission

Every IB student deserves a map, not a guess.

We help IB students choose universities with clarity, evidence and a plan.

Built on the numbers that decide. Admission turns on subject requirements, predicted points, entrance exams and cut-offs that change every year. Generic advice skips them. We start from them.

01 · What we do

From your profile to a plan

You tell us your IB subjects and levels, your grades, your EE and TOK, any test scores, and what you care about. StudyCompass compares that with what each programme actually asks for.

The result is three things you can act on: which universities are realistic and which are reaches, what's missing from your application, and what to do next, in what order.

02 · Our approach

Facts first, and we show our work

Decisions come from published requirements and past results, checked against official sources and dated, not from a hunch or a chatbot's best guess. Every result carries its reasons and where they came from.

When the data is missing or a university decides holistically, we say so plainly and tell you what would make the answer clearer. Honest uncertainty beats false precision.

03 · Who it's for

Made for IB students

The HL and SL choices you make at 16, your predicted points and your core grades open some doors and close others, and every country reads the IB a little differently. StudyCompass is built around exactly that.

It's designed for students first, in plain language, and works just as well alongside a parent, guardian or IB coordinator.

How we work

Five principles

  1. 01Numbers firstRequirements, cut-offs and exams lead. Opinions follow, if at all.
  2. 02Show our workEvery result comes with its reasons, its source and the date we last checked it.
  3. 03Honest about what we don't knowMissing data or holistic admissions get a clear "we can't tell yet", never a fake percentage.
  4. 04Respect for your dataWe collect as little as possible, keep it protected, and make leaving easy.
  5. 05Written for studentsPlain language a 16-year-old can follow, and no dark patterns.

Where we are today

Built in the open

StudyCompass is an early preview. Here is exactly what works and what doesn't yet.

  1. FoundationsDone

Architecture, data rules and privacy decided before writing any code.

  2. IB surveyDone

Live now: subjects, grades, EE and TOK, tests, interests, activities and goals. Answers stay in your browser.

  3. Matching engineIn progress

Comparing profiles with programme requirements, one country at a time, every fact traced to an official source.

  4. Shortlist and planNext

Safe, target and reach results, what's missing, and a dated to-do list.

  5. AccountsLater

Only with consent, strong privacy protections and a clear reason to need one.

To be clear

What StudyCompass is not

Your data stays yours

Your survey answers are stored only in your own browser for now. We don't have accounts, we never ask for passwords or ID numbers, and you can download or delete your answers at any time.
